From the Producer

This year’s festival will not only light the fire in your belly but also make your ears ring with the angelic and the downright funky.

Opening night will be the biggest fire and sound event Mackay has ever seen.  Featuring Pyrophone Juggernaut, a fire-breathing organ of immense dimensions that will be played by five musicians, the night will also feature a 100 member marching band, a cavalcade of cars, trucks and bikes and the iconic Bobcat Ballet. To balance this, the dynamically gifted Sarah Hopkins will work alongside local musicians to create her extraordinary concerts involving harmonic whirlies, handbells, choirs, percussion didgeridoo and cello. Sarah is a national treasure and her works are not to be missed.

The Snuff Puppets from Melbourne will be our artists in residence who will make their large-scale puppets with the community and perform at all outside and some indoor events.

The entire festival will feature more than 20 major performances spanning every artform with shows and workshops for all ages. Get fired up and come on down and enjoy some of the best music and performances on offer. This festival would not be possible without the wonderful support of volunteers, local artists, council workers, councillors and local businesses - we thank you all for your sound advice, support and assistance.
