The Mackay Festival of Arts is over for another year, and I would like to thank all the people of Mackay for their support in putting on such a terrific celebration.
Without the community involvement, the Festival would not have been the success it was. Throughout the 8 days, I got to as many events as I could, and was impressed by the level of artistic talent and community involvement that makes the Festival of Arts so unique.
I would like to thank the staff at Mackay Regional Council including the Community Services & Events team, the Festival Committee, in particular Cheryl Jorgenson and our 43 enthusiastic volunteers.
Thank you also to our sponsors for your generous support. It was great to see sponsors out enjoying events during the Festival.
Finally, thanks go to my assistant Shanna Souvlis for her hard work and dedication.
The 21st Mackay Festival of Arts has passed. The dust will settle for only a short time before we begin planning for the 2009 Festival, and we sincerely hope to see you there.
